“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” the rep said in a statement. “There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
TMZ was the first to report the news.
A representative for Prince told TMZ that the singer was feeling under the weather during his shows last week and began to feel worse on the plane. After the emergency landing, he was treated at a hospital and released three hours later. At the time his reps said he was battling the flu ... something we questioned because his plane was only 48 minutes from home before the unscheduled landing.Multiple sources in Moline tell us, Prince was rushed to a hospital and doctors gave him a "save shot" ... typically administered to counteract the effects of an opiate.

Born Prince Rogers Nelson (after the Prince Rogers Trio) on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the multi-talented performer has been called “one of the most naturally gifted artists of all time,” by Rolling Stone. Prince did everything — from writing to singing to producing — with his own unique style.
Prince starred in “Purple Rain,” a film for which he created the soundtrack and original score. He won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for the movie.
Prince was last seen alive at 8 p.m. on Wednesday when he was dropped off at Paisley Park, his home and recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
The next morning a staff member called 911 to report that Prince had been found unresponsive in an elevator. Paramedics were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m.
There were no obvious signs of trauma on Prince's body when he was found, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said in a news conference Friday. There is no reason to believe his death was a suicide, although there is still an air of mystery around his death.
Prince continues to be remebered and celebrated for his lifes work.
Following Prince's death, Elton John posted a picture of the musician on Instagram, calling him "the greatest performer I have ever seen" and "a true genius." Elton John and Prince performed onstage together twice, John wrote.
Artists and bands are flooding social media with tributes to the beloved "Purple Rain" singer.
Manuela Testolini, Prince's ex-wife, says she plans to build a school through her foundation in honour of the late musician who died Thursday.
"The world knew him as a musical genius — I knew him as a husband, friend and fierce philanthropist," the 39-year-old Canadian wrote. "Philanthropy brought us together and it was Prince who encouraged me to start my own charity over 10 years ago."
Testolini, who runs the Los Angeles-based In a Perfect World Foundation which provides education programs around the world, said she raised the idea of a school to him before he died.
"I just reached out to him a few days ago to let him know that I was building a school in his honour," she wrote in the statement. "My heart aches that the school will now be built in his memory."
Rest in Peace.
